Tantric Sex and The Kama Sutra: How to Truly Enhance Your Sexual Experience

Posted by Soiar on 1/8/2015
The Kama Sutra is an ancient Hindu tome largely believed (especially by Westerners) to be a manual for ways to have great sex. While portions of the manuscript do address sexual intercourse, it is actually a collection of works meant to provide more than just information on having sex. In addition to the inclusion of classical Sanskrit poetry known as anuṣṭup, the Kama Sutra contains several guides relating to “virtuous and gracious living,” as well as other aspects pertaining to the nature of human pleasure, love and family.

Kāma, meaning “desire” or “sensual pleasure” is only one of the four “goals of Hindu life.” The other goals include Dharma, which relates to righteousness and ethics, Artha, meaning wealth and livelihood, and finally Mokṣa, which is the liberation from saṃsāra, or the notion of reincarnation.

Originally meant to be a guide for good Hindu living, the Kama Sutra is more widely known for its ability to bring profound enlightenment to sexual pleasure-seeking individuals. Just as two lovers go hand-in-hand and side-by-side, the Kama Sutra goes hand-in-hand with Tantric Sex.

Also originating in India about 1500 years ago, Tantra is the practice of expanding one’s experience, feelings, and awareness to a deeper, more meaningful level. Tantric Sex does not focus on the orgasm as the end result, but focuses on the entire experience. Tantra will allow you and your partner to gain a deeper sense of feeling, emotion, and intimacy with each other The point of tantric sex is to slow down, breathe, and experience each heartbeat together in unison. As your heartbeats and breathing aligns, you'll soon feel yourself becoming one spiritual entity with your partner.

The orgasm as the apex of the sexual experience can be mind-blowing if done right, so why would the practice of Tantric Sex want to downplay its awesomeness? It doesn’t. It provides a way to slow down and prolong the act of lovemaking while focusing on all aspects of the human sexual experience: Body, Mind, Spirit, and Soul.  Once you’ve experienced tantric sex, you will never want to experience sex the same way again. Your once mind-blowing orgasms will seem like nothing compared to what Tantra can help you and your partner achieve together.
